Vitamin B12 for Health

I received an email about the importance of Vitamin B12 in the diet. I found out that it was an online "infomercial." I did decide to do a little research about the B vitamins on my own though. Apparently they are very important for a healthy nervous system, and a deficiency can cause nerve system diseases. It is especially important for pregant women to get these vitamins in order to prevent birth defects in the newborn.

So where does one find these miracle B vitamins. Well some people take supplements. Others eat a well balanced diet that includes foods rich in the B vitamins, such as protein foods, certain fruits, and vegetables. It is very important to get the entire complex of B vitamins and not just a few.

Planet Azure - Let's Talk About the Weather

I live in Saint Louis, MO, and the climate has definitely been changing here for the past 20 years. We used to have harsh winters, mild springs and falls with lots of thunderstorms, and hot, humid summers, with occasional summer storms.

Now I would describe our climate as cool and mild, with occasional severe thunderstorms - less storms, but more intense! Actually I like our current weather. It is more like what you might expect in a more northern climate, without all the bitter cold, ice, and snow. Summers have been a delight! Even though we live surrounded by rivers, including the great Mississippi River, humidity has been decreasing. I can't really explain that!

Tell me about your weather. Have you noticed climate changes where you live?

Milk - It's Natural - or Is It?

I have been concerned about consuming dairy products that are not "natural" but adulterated with different chemicals: growth hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, etc. Buying organic is more expensive, but worth it, in my opionion. This is especially true if children are consuming dairy products. None of these chemicals have been tested for their effects on growing children (at least not that I know of). If anyone knows differently let us know in the comment section. Anyway go to the following link to learn how ultrasound is being used to test for chemicals in branded milk and in pure milk. The results show the contrast in density between the two types of milk...interesting, and scary. I will stick to pure milk, thankyou!

Welocome to Planet Azure!

Let's think about the meaning of "going green" or "environmentally correct." What feelings about our living habits and our philosophy of life will result from thinking about these issues?
